Full Biography

Adam has always had a deep love for music. He began his study of trumpet in 5th grade after many years of piano lessons. His first trumpet teacher was James Neujahr, who currently serves as Fox Valley Lutheran’s director of Instrumental Music at both the middle and high school levels. Mr. Neujahr had a profound impact on Adam and he hopes to show that same passion and encouragement to his students as Mr. Neujahr did for him. Adam became more serious about trumpet in 7th grade and started studying with Ryan Smith at the Lawrence Academy of Music. Ryan also had a profound impact on Adam and gave him a fantastic example of what beautiful tone quality can be made on the trumpet. Adam studied with Ryan from 7th grade to 12th grade. During high school, Adam was very active within the music program. Adam participated in the concert band and jazz band at FVL along with various pit orchestras. Adam was also very active outside of his high school. He participated in many honors programs including the Wisconsin State Honors band. He also served as principal trumpet of the Lawrence Wind Ensemble as well as the Fox Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra where he received the Conductor’s award his senior year. Adam also traveled around the country during the summers of his high school years with the competitive marching band - The Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin.

During his senior year of high school, Adam decided to go to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN to pursue a degree in pastoral studies. At MLC, Adam stayed very active in music, taking trumpet lessons with Dr. Brent Nolte and Thomas Beier as well as being part of the MLC Wind Symphony. After one year of study, Adam decided that he really wanted a career in music. Adam is still very active in the church and often serves as a church musician.

Adam decided to go to the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and he could not be happier about this decision. Adam recently graduated in the Spring of 2020 with a B.M. in Trumpet Performance degree under Brent Turney as well as a Jazz Studies Minor under Mathew Buchman. Currently, Adam is continuing his education on his own by studying with Matthew Ernst (principal trumpet of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra). He stays very busy with teaching, gigging, taking lessons, and his various other projects.

Adam loves playing trumpet and could never see himself doing anything else with his life.
